Research
Geoscience
Nestled in the School of Environment, our Geoscience team delves into geology, geochemistry, and geophysics. We examine earth’s physical properties through geothermal studies, investigate its chemical composition utilizing geochemistry, and understand seismic behaviors with geophysics. Unfolding the complexities of the natural world, our work stands as a testament to scientific curiosity and knowledge pursuit.
Research
Reservoir Engineering
Leveraging advanced techniques in drilling, well logging, and testing, our Geothermal Reservoir Engineering research team is at the forefront of geothermal resource assessments and reservoir characterisation. Our team’s comprehensive studies in fluid-rock interaction and geotechnical engineering, including factors relating to subsidence, have imparted fresh insights into the mechanics of geothermal systems.
Research
Above Ground Engineering
Our Above Ground Engineering research encompasses all stages of geothermal exploration and development, from drilling and well testing to the design of steam field equipment, power plants and direct-use facilities. This field of Geothermal Engineering also addresses the plethora of technical challenges related to mineral scaling, erosion, corrosion, moisture damage, and more. Alongside tackling design issues and revamping existing facilities, we also frequently contribute to the conceptual design of new installations.
