You may be eligible to apply for a postgraduate scholarship. We recommend you research different options and check application requirements and deadlines.
Scholarships for international students
- New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFAT) offers scholarships to students from eligible countries for postgraduate study at the Geothermal Institute.
- Masters and PhD level scholarships from selected countries are offered by Commonwealth Scholarships.
- Support postgraduate students from certain developing countries to gain knowledge and skills through study in specific subject areas provided by New Zealand Development Scholarships (NZDS).
- Both undergraduate and postgraduate study in New Zealand are available to candidates from a set list of countries in the Pacific region in the form of New Zealand Pacific Scholarships.
- Support for students from a selection of countries in South-East Asia, to pursue postgraduate studies is available from the New Zealand ASEAN Scholar Awards (NZAS).
Scholarships for domestic students
The University of Auckland offers scholarships to high-achieving domestic students in the following categories:
- Research masters programmes
- PhD or research component of an approved doctorate
- Māori students
- Pacific students

Currently 50% of our Postgraduate Certificate in Geothermal Energy Technology students receive some form of company sponsorship.
