A three day course delivered in Indonesia in cooperation with PPSDM Migas to increase the overall competency of geothermal well drilling practitioners.
Well Drilling course
Working in cooperation with Pusdiklat MIGAS (PPSDM Migas) and MFAT, this course was delivered by the Geothermal Institute to provide a New Zealand supported geothermal well drilling training initiative in Indonesia.
The intensive three day course, held at PPSDM Migas in Cepu, Indonesia, targeted current engineers and aimed to increase the number and standard of geothermal well control practitioners available to work in the Indonesian geothermal sector.
Subject matter experts from the Geothermal Institute, MB Century and Universitas Gadjah Mada delivered the training which drew on material from the NZ Code of Practice for Deep Geothermal Wells (NZS2403:2015) in the following areas:
Geothermal energy exploration
Utilisation primer for drilling personnel from the oil and gas sector
General geothermal wells and drilling practice
Comparison with oil and gas sector practices
Well and casing design and engineering for exploration, production and re-injection wells
Well planning, rig section, consumables, tools and equipment
Safety and well control
Drilling problems and case studies drawing on Indonesian challenges and best practice solutions
Practical exercises, in consultation with Pusdiklat MIGAS, based on existing rig and simulation equipment
Social and environmental risk assessment and management
